Fulbright (U.S.) Scholar Program

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers approximately 400 awards yearly in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects around the world.  College and university faculty, as well as artists and professionals from a wide range of fields can join over 400,000 Fulbrighters who have come away with enhanced skills, new connections, and greater mutual understanding.

The 2027-2028 Fulbright US Scholar Program is now open and we are hosting our first information session of the year on February 13 for UW-Madison faculty and staff interested in exploring their Fulbright options or even starting an application early.  Join usto learn more about the full range of opportunities available through Fulbright to pursue research, teaching, and professional development interests abroad:

This session is geared to UW-Madison faculty & staff with an interest in developing new or building out existing research, teaching, and professional experience overseas.

We will focus on the Fulbright US Scholar Program (open to US citizens, 2-12 months abroad, 2027-2028 competition scheduled to open on February 4, 2026), the range of offerings available, what’s new for the 2027-2028 awards cycle, how to get started on an application, timelines, campus support, and more!

The deadline to apply for 2027-2028 Fulbright US Scholar Program awards is 4pm CDT, Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
