To all potential UW-Madison Fulbright U.S. Student Program 2027-28 applicants…
All applicants must use the online application system, which is available through the Fulbright website: https://us.fulbrightonline.org/. Click on the “Applicants” tab at the top of the page for instructions, additional guidance, and to initiate an application.
Enrolled UW-Madison students are expected to apply for a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award through the UW-Madison by selecting UW-Madison as their institution in the online application (in the “Country & Award Selection” tab of the online application).
Alumni who are not currently in a graduate program at another institution are invited and strongly encouraged to apply through the UW-Madison by designating the UW-Madison as your home institution in the application. We are here to support all current students, staff & alumni throughout the entire application process!
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program uses an online application system. All documents that make up the application – including letters of affiliation and recommendation, language evaluations, and transcripts – MUST be marked “ready for campus review” in the application system by the campus deadline: 10:00am CDT, Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Read the Campus Instructions for more information about the campus review process. The campus-side of the review process is about helping applicants submit the strongest, most competitive applications possible; UW-Madison does not gatekeep, limit or eliminate applications at any point!
The only materials you submit directly to the UW-Madison Fulbright Coordinator are Attachments A (waiver) & B (campus review availability). The deadline to submit these is 10:00am CDT, Monday, September 7, 2026.
If you do not submit Attachments A & B by 10:00am CDT, Wednesday, September 7, 2026 and mark your application “ready for review” by the campus deadline, it is possible that no campus review will take place. We can accept applications after the campus deadline – and work with applicants who enter the process later in the application cycle – but you should contact the UW-Madison Fulbright Coordinator to discuss.
Read all instructions on the Fulbright U.S. Student program website, https://us.fulbrightonline.org/ as well as the campus instructions: https://fulbright.wisc.edu/fusp/fusp-campus-instructions/. Applicants are responsible for submitting a complete and correct application by the national deadline.
The October 6, 2026, 4:00pm CDT deadline is the final (national) submission deadline. If you are applying for a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award through the UW-Madison, your first deadline is the campus deadline.
