Fulbright encourages all those interested to register even if you can’t make the live event: they will send all registrants a link to a recording shortly after the program. The Fulbright Scholar Program offers a broad array of opportunities for US academics, administrators, and professionals at all career stages to teach, research, work on professional projects, and build and deepen their networks & expertise outside the United States. Each year, more than 800 fellowships are awarded to 135+ countries. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for these awards. The deadline to apply for (most) 2026-2027 awards is September 15, 2025.

The FSP awards catalog has been updated for the 2026-2027 competition; you can review the full array of awards on offer at https://fulbrightscholars.org/awards/search – additional awards will be added throughout the coming weeks and months.

As the UW-Madison’s Scholar Liaison, I was invited to participate in “sneak peek” at the coming competition. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the slidedeck from that program (which provides a general overview as well as links to new awards and highlights by world region) please email uwfulbright@wisc.edu.

Finally, remember that the Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad (FRA) program – for research abroad conducted during the 2026 calendar year – is still accepting applications through 10am, March 10, 2025. The FRA is open to US citizens and permanent residents whose work abroad encompasses using a language other than English.

If you are interested in learning more about the full array of Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays opportunities and how we support interested UW-Madison faculty & staff, connect with us at https://go.wisc.edu/FulbrightInterest and we will follow up.

Mark Lilleleht, UW-Madison’s Fulbright Coordinator, is available to assist interested UW-Madison faculty & staff across awards and throughout the exploration, application, and awarding process so please feel free to book an appointment with him anytime.
